Ballard Resident Shocked to Learn Increased Minimum Wage Also Increased Latte Costs

BALLARD — When Robert Deuce voted in favor of increasing Seattle’s minimum wage, he thought he was making a positive contribution to the world. Little did he know, that contribution would come directly from his oat milk latte budget.

“I assumed the increase in workers’ wages would come from the deep pockets of the coffee shop owners,” said Deuce. “I had no idea I would be paying for those increased wages in the form of higher-priced lattes.”

Deuce went on to tell The Ballard Times that he felt seriously misled by lawmakers.

“You know, if you’re gonna suggest people make more money, that’s great,” he said. “But not telling us — the voters — that we’re probably gonna have to shell out a few extra bucks on our daily pain au chocolat to make it happen? Well, that just seems unfair.”
